Merry Goes Round in March!
This March, the merry people at Guinness are bringing back the fun to Malaysians with a month long celebration of good friends, good food and of course, pints of Guinness, the world’s favourite black brew. Themed “Merry Goes Round in March”, Guinness St. Patrick’s celebrations will be held nationwide featuring an array of street parties, fun activities and a host of other exciting promotions starting from 1st March 2011 to 31st March 2011.
“For the entire month, Guinness St. Patrick’s celebrations aim to share the true spirit and essence of the St. Patrick’s festival that is globally synonymous with Guinness. Instead of just celebrating it for a day, we at Guinness are bringing St. Patrick’s fun all throughout March to put bright spots in the daily grind of our consumers. Keep a look out for our entertaining festivities as well as consumer promotions that make everyday a St. Patrick’s Day!” said Ms. Yap Swee Leng, Marketing Director of Guinness Anchor Berhad.
“This is the fifth year that Guinness is hosting this internationally-renowned celebration in Malaysia. In case you’re wondering where’s this GAB Tavern thing and there’s absoulutely nothing I should feel “Lucky” about, well then I think you should just shuddup and stop being so snobbishly jealous because believe it or not, TAVERN is like HEAVEN!

More than two thousand of the country’s “who’s who” gathered in the Grand Ballroom, Pyramind One, of the Sunway Convention Centre on the 21st of September 2010 for one of Malaysia’s most spectacular, world class events – the Gala Launch of the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF).
An annual event, now into its 10th year, the Gala Launch showcases fabolous food from the 30 top fine dining restaurants taking part in the month long MIGF that runs throughout October.
The festival theme for 2010 is “Magical Chefs” and for the glittering Gala Launch occasion all 30 Festival Restaurants created especially themed stations with each amazing venue showcasing selected dishes from their Festival Menus for the two thousand VIP guests to sample. The stellar guest list included royalty, over fifty foreign ambassadors, captains of industry, leading corporate personalities and a host of local and international food and tourism writers. Add to the mix showbiz entities, social movers and shakers, fashion and lifestyle pace setters, top hoteliars and restaurant owners – and it is no wonder that the Gala Launch is considered by many to be the event of the year!
Officiating the Gala Launch occasion was Deputy Minsiter of Tourism, YB Datuk Dr James Dawos Mamit who joined Organising Chairman YBhg Dato’ Steve Day, in cutting open a giant Chef’s Hat marking the entrance to the ballroom. As the excited guests made their way in, they were greeted by an ‘orchestra’ of Festival Master Chefs’ ‘playing’ pots and pans in unison with a Latin band. Thousands of candles lit up the ballroom which was filled from wall to wall with colourful restaurant stations offering exotic Festival fare – all succulent items from the special Festival Menus that will be served at special Festival Prices by Festival Restaurants throughout the month of October.

It was just about 2 months ago when I went on a trip to Guangzhou, visiting the Canton Fair (known as the largest China import and export fair), and discovering the best Cantonese delicacies in the city itself.
My favorite travel wallet where I keep my passport, boarding pass, and other important documents.
Was surprised to see that just how cute my flight to Guangzhou is.

I saw my little red luggage! Just right there, sandwiched in the middle.
And surprisingly enough, I was on cloud nine to know that my friend was the co-pilot to fly the plane to Guangzhou when the Captain announced who his First Officer was.
So we ended up chatting away at the back of the aircraft, and I was introduced to the hot cabin crews on board.
Oh lucky me!

They were so nice to give me a box of Krispy Kreme, a cup of hot coffee, and a bottle of water.
Guess my flight wasn’t so boring afterall.
Yummy Yum! Everything tastes extremely good when you’re flying on a plane.

Looked like a KFC to me, but indeed they serve undeniably good Chinese food!

Happily stuffing myself in Guangzhou.
At first I thought that was a beansprout in that bowl of steamed egg.
Then only I found out that it’s a cute little fresh Anchovy!
